Planning
I’m glad that I do not have class this week, however this will probably affect my blog(I don’t have too terribly much to write about). I know that my wedding plans do not correlate with my education, but I am going to go out on a limb here and say that they do.
So we’ve almost set a date. I was thinking June 13th 2009, at 1st Lutheran in Bemidji. Matt and I our both planning on becoming members(many of his family are already members).
Now my family is very simple when it comes to events and celebrations. This may be because a lot of my family our Jehovah’s Witnesses, or because we are not very extravagant people. I tried to discuss reception plans with them last night, only to have them inform me that I should have a potluck, and have everyone bring there own lawn chairs.
Matt’s family on the other hand has been more supportive of my ideas. I’ve been thinking that the Hampton Inn would be a goood place for a reception. We could also use them for catering. This is just an idea, they should be calling me tommorow to discuss prices.
I was also thinking of having a semi-open bar. This may be hrad to arrange however. I do not want our guests to get drunk, and I surely do not want to pay an outrageous amount of money to enable them to drink to their hearts content. I was thinking of having free drink tickets to hold there for guests at the reception, of to provide a list to the bartenders. Guests over twenty one would be able to get maybe two free alcholic beverages, with the exception of the wedding party and others close to Matt and I, who would get as many as they wanted.
There are so many other details. Flowers, photographers, limo service, dresses, possible seating, and financing. It’s times like these that I wish that my mom and I were closer. It’s hard with her being institutionalized, I haven’t got to know her, and have no idea how to relate to her.
Hopefully the planning will go well!
